As Christians, we need to take in consideration if we are being like God or if we are not. Here are some observations might want to consider:
Being like God
- He is gracious, loving, and kind
- He is merciful without any thought of seeking revenge
- He is sacrificial willing to absorb hurt for the sake of the world
- He is holy meaning that he is pure and totally without fault
- He is not willing to conform to any other way than his own way because it is right
- He is perfect in his will that there is no question about his motives
All of these things we can say are true of God, but these are also things that we can do our best to live for him and reflect him in our lives.
Not being like God
- He thinks of himself rightly but not in a self-serving way
- He loves without any element of hypocrisy or any ulterior motive
- He is not slothful but energetic toward mankind
- He is not impatient during times of tribulation that mankind experiences
- He is all wise but not so that he brings conceit upon himself; this is what the devil did
- He brings re-compensable as needed without revenge for revenge sake
- He has not been and cannot be overcome with evil
Unfortunately, many of these negative traits are popular in the behavior of humankind. Our goal is to sheId these things so that we might serve God better and have a better life for ourselves.
