Trash Pick Up is Today

Where I live, trash pickup is done by trucks and taken to the dump. Trash is unwanted items; broken, discarded, useless, with garbage leftovers. The dump is a mountain contributed by all the city members. In it is rats, snakes, and other fearsome creatures. Because of the composite of things there is usually smoke from internal heat.

Outside of Jerusalem was a similar dump where there were worms, internal heat, all of which was useless to those residents years ago. Jesus made reference to this dump. It was named Gehenna. Can you just imagine Jesus talking to his disciples while pointing to this fiery heap?  He used this as an example of a future place for those who reject God and reserve for themselves eternal punishment. This is what we call Hell. The book of Revelation calls it the lake of fire.

Understand the connection between our modern-day dumps, the Jerusalem trash heap and hell. That which is discarded has no hope. No one will come to pick it up and take it home. No one will dust it off or clean it for future use. It lays there waiting to be consumed by fire. The only difference is that eventually the items in our city dump deteriorate whereas the soul in hell experiences the suffering forever.

Don’t tell me that a loving God would not send a person to hell! God did everything possible to keep people from going to hell including the crucifixion of his son. There is the holy word of God. There are Christians available to show you how not to go to hell. There’s only one reason a person goes to hell and it’s not because of God! John 3:18 tells us that by rejecting Jesus as Savior the person brings condemnation on himself. God gets no benefit or pleasure in a person going to hell. It was not intended for humans to go to hell. It was rigidly made for Satan and his demons.

Every one of us has but two choices. Jesus said that he is the only way to God. By accepting him into our hearts we are given a destination of a “mansion” where we would live for eternity with all the joy and pleasure from God himself. By rejecting Jesus, the unbeliever destines himself to be in a place forever where he has physical, emotional, and mental pain. There are no do overs in this life when it matters about the next life.

When an athlete does not obey the rules, he is thrown out of the game. It is not that the coach or umpire decides one day to select a particular athlete to experience rejection. It is not the coaches or the umpire who is at fault. This falls clearly and simply is on the shoulders of the disobeying athlete. A hope for a person going to hell is clearly and simply on shoulders of the person rejecting God.

The answer is to select the Wonderful Answer. Accept Christ as your personal savior and live for him the rest of your life. It is your choice as well as it is mine. It is your responsibility as well as it is mine.
