Whether on land or on sea, when dark clouds approach, it is an indication of danger and the need for preparation. Vicious wind in a torrent of rain will quickly beat down on all those that succumb to its arrival. Warnings shout the approaching threat. For many it will be too late.
So, it is for the fulfillment of prophecy. The older generation mourns the loss of the way it used to be. Those days are past. All that is left is to either be prepared or experience what will happen. In Matthew 24 Jesus gave many warnings two thousand years ago. His first warning was fulfilled just thirty-five years after he said them. He told his hearers that Jerusalem would be destroyed. In 70 AD the Romans crushed what was the central city of Jewish worship. After his resurrection and ascension into heaven, what he said in that first verse of Matthew in many cases went unheeded and hundreds of lives were lost. If what he said then came true, it must be true for us today! There is a storm brewing on the horizon that will be the most horrendous that the world has ever known. Just think what Jesus said and how his words have already come true in our own lifetime today.
There are pseudo-religious leaders that have great followings in mega churches preaching a social gospel without the call for repentance. These false prophets offer a comfortable psychological well-being without any preparation for eternity or the forgiveness of sin. They declare that God wants you to be wealthy and happy which is nowhere to be found in the Bible.
Watch your television and read your newspaper about the turmoil between nations particularly surrounding the Middle East. There was a time in which people paid no attention to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Russia, or other countries that today bring to us a whirlwind of concern. Often people speculate if World War III is about to happen.
There are places where starvation is a matter of fact. Various organizations seek donations to ship beneficent efforts for food, most of which is gobbled up by the dictators and military leaders of coups that are occurring.
Our own political system in America is gone amuck. Crime at the highest level is obvious. The standards for rule of law are twisted to their favor. The average citizen is now living in fear buying weapons at the highest amount of purchase than ever before. Riots, murders, robberies continue to escalate. Previous efforts to conjoin races and cultures in a civil manner are being flushed away. The average person carries a bitterness in their hearts. Resentment is common.
The Nazi regime that included indoctrinating youth is becoming pale to our young people living without morals or principles or spiritual concerns. The idea what would God say is passé. Any hope for a life of quality is based on personal effort climbing over the shoulders of everyone else. Love has waxed cold being replaced by physical pleasure without devotion. There are no prophecies in the Bible yet to be fulfilled before the coming of Christ.
It is becoming difficult to awaken the concern of the average Christian who goes to church every Sunday. The attendance of Christian churches is diminishing while, in many cases, the doctrine of some churches has become perverted contrary to the teaching of obvious Scriptures as in Romans 1. Human opinion has become the threshold for behavior. God’s opinion no longer matters for how many people live.
We must wake up, beloved! Jesus said in Matthew 24 that believers who endure to the end will be the only ones that are saved. We must become absolutely and totally serious about our own relationship with God. In whatever way we preoccupy ourselves daily must change. Jesus gave the example of people quickly coming back into their house to take personal belongings while fleeing. He said if someone was working in the field, that someone must flee even without packing their suitcases. Jesus gave notice to the woman with child and the dangers that become obvious.
Without our awakening, all of civilization will be left to mourn. There will be a day of reckoning in the near future like that of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. If the prophecy of Jesus came true then, it certainly will come true now! Beware of the storm clouds on the horizon.
