The word “work” appears in the verses of the Bible 380 times. More than once the Apostle Paul stated that if the person professing to be a Christian was unwilling to work, neither should he eat. Christianity contains a direct linkage between work and gain. You could say, in a sense, capitalism is a Christian principal. For hundreds of years there has been a direct link between serving the Lord and capitalism. Therefore, we can say on this Labor Day that we celebrate the efforts of people in the workforce. We honor them.
To participate in the celebration of Labor Day, is to support biblical principles related to work and benefit. America has become great because of the Labor Day experience of capitalism. Our citizens are free to select a career and an employer. Our labors provide that which is necessary to support ourselves and our families. Our labor efforts are reflection back to the opportunities God has given us. Therefore, when we celebrate Labor Day, we are celebrating the blessings of God for ourselves as we labor.
