Conservative Christians hold that God created everything in six days. However, there does seem to be a problem with that thinking. We will address two of those problems in this blog. Where do we find dinosaurs in all of creation? When did they live and where did they live? The theory is that a giant comet struck the earth and obliterated them. Keep that thought in mind.
The farthest object visible to our eyes is the Andromeda galaxy which is about 2.5 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda. One light year is 6,000,000,000,000 miles. That means you multiply 2.5 times 6 trillion miles. When the light was emitted from that star, it occurred a long, long, long, time ago.
How do we reconcile dinosaurs and the time it takes a star to reach earth with the six days of creation as recorded in the book of Genesis? Because of what seems to be scientific fact, many people disregard the creation by God as a myth. They say there’s no way these two issues can come to terms. They would prefer to believe science than what the Bible says. To them science disproves the Bible. The answer is very simple!
Go to chapter 1 verse one of the book of Genesis. It says, “in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Notice that it says heaven and not heavens. Now go to chapter 2 verse one that says, “thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them.” In this verse heaven is plural as it is in the fourth verse.
Compare Isaiah 14:17 to Genesis 1:2. In Isaiah we see an explanation of what happened when Satan rebelled against God. He was cast to the earth and made it a wilderness. In Genesis we see that suddenly the original creation became without form, void, with darkness upon it. In other words, after God made an original creation Satan rebelled against him but God cast him to the earth. He made that original creation null and void not by his power but by his presence perhaps as a comet.
In summary, those stars that are light years away were probably created in verse one of Genesis. The dinosaurs that no longer exist on earth probably also lived as a result of verse one. Satan brought chaos onto the earth. Then the Holy Spirit moved upon earth and God began the creation that we now know. So, you see, there is absolutely no conflict between science and God’s Word.
