I have met many people who felt weighed down because of problems and circumstances of life. It is not easy to carry a heavy load of concerned issues. Sometimes people have actual poor posture because of the burdens that they feel upon them.
Allow me to make a recommendation if this is your case. Just for discussion’s sake, let us use the analogy that your problems are like stone in a bag draped over your shoulder. You have big stones, medium-sized stones, and even little stones. Altogether, they are very heavy. It is hard for you to navigate through life was so much weighing down on you.
Of the many concerns that are pressing on you could be health for yourself or health for a loved one. It could be financial issues. You might want to help someone but do not have the means or wherewithal to do so and that is heavy on your mind. Perhaps there are relationship issues in your life that are very burdensome. It could be that you have prayed for a long time that God would relieve you of such and such a burden but that has not happened. We could go on and on for what these stones represent including decisions that you must make not wanting to face the consequences from what you conclude.
So, what do you do? The problem many people have is they feel like they must deal with all of the stones in their bag at once. They tell themselves that every problem and every issue must be solved immediately and at the same time. That is likely a mistake.
Select the stone that might have the simplest solution. That way a small weight is off your back. Then select another stone that might be slightly bigger and slightly more complicated to address. I am saying not to try solving all of the stones at once. As you pray for God’s guidance, pick a problem, an issue, a circumstance that next needs to be addressed.
This will require your patience and faith. Do not expect miracles of what you do. Miracles come from God, not you. However, you do have the power and authority to detect and address one problem at a time. Have confidence in yourself and God. If you select a stone and it doesn’t work out, select a different stone to deal with. The main thing is, with the help of the Holy Spirit, you will empower yourself to face what life throws at you. Then when you are nearly done, there may be a few stones that simply cannot come out of the bag that you are carrying on your back. That is okay. It is okay as long as you look at what you’ve already accomplished and not what needs yet to be accomplished.
This is a different version of problem-solving. It is another way to think of the causes that make you depressed or anxious. It is a means by which God can be glorified as you heal. When you begin to doubt, take a break, pray. Concentrate on God and his power. Read scriptures that uplift you. Understand that these issues are the enemy, not God or people. You might misconstrue what’s happening in your life. This can be a lesson to learn what’s really important and how significant you can be to yourself.
One of my favorite Bible verses is found in John 1: 12 that says, “as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” Without realizing it you may be giving away your power. You may see yourself as powerless. The solution is to stand on this promise and take your power back!
