When do You Think the Following Words Were Written?

After you read the following, I will tell you when they were written. What do you think have these words in comparison to our current situation?

“this century has furnished the world with arts, ships, railroads, halls, colleges, schools, hospitals, homes, food, clothing, and books; so that, for our physical, social, and intellectual life, nothing seems to be wanting. One thing is greatly needed among clerks and merchants, among men of labor, and men of capital; it is needed in the halls of learning among students, and among the professors, in the pews, and in the pulpits-and that is the New Testament type of character; more conscious, and more righteousness by faith…… This country needs a revival of quality and quantity, better likenesses of Jesus and more of them, and all the social and business channels of life. Transferring men from the outside to the inside of our denominations, and then shouting over our increase is not the thing that is needed; for unless the sins are pardoned and the polluted hearts are cleansed and wrong living changed to right living, the transfer should be the other way…. Ministers and layman, must repent and pray and fast, confess, and search the heart, turn away from everything displeasing to God. The message of Christ to five out of the seven churches of Asia ( in the book of Revelation) was: repent, repent, repent, repent, repent. That means for us to put away the sins that weigh upon our consciences and vitiate the power of service. That means to put off all our tempers, and habits that kill our prayers, and stop the channels of the Holy Spirit, and quit lying to God in our prayers.”

Are these words not true for us today? They were written by Rev. C. Perrin, PhD in 1903 this was BEFORE World War I, when the population of the United States was only 76,212,168; the second modern Olympic Games was held; the assassination of Pres. McKinley; the Galveston Texas hurricane that killed approximately 7,000 people; and the Wright brothers flew their airplane at Kitty Hawk North Carolina. We are a proud people-too proud for our own good in which we need today, as in 1903, to get right with God!
