Redeeming the Time

Take the advice of the Apostle Paul when he wrote to the Ephesians (5:15,16) when he said to redeem the time. Whether we are at home, at work, at school, or even on vacation, how might you best spend your time?

Make it a part of your life to worship; formally and informally. Don’t view your surroundings as hostile or strange, distractive or overwhelming. It is a different place in nature that God made. Look for his hand in it. Thank him for it. Worship him through it. Honor him because of it.

Remember to pray. Do it privately, publicly, briefly, at length, for yourself, and for others. Try to avoid having most of your prayer being that what you want to make happen. Instead, pray for God’s will to be revealed. When we pray for bread, is more for the inner need to tell someone about hunger than it is to persuade God to feed us.

Scripture reading is not just something to be done at home or on Sunday. Be yourself to God in the reading of Scripture. Study it. Research about it. look at maps and geography. Read it silently. Read it aloud. But most of all, read it. Incorporate the Word of God into your thinking.

Share yourself and what you are with someone else. Show kindness. Have discussions with someone different from you. Share your faith and encouragement with another. You never know who might need a blessing more than you. Redeem the time for it. During your daily life certain problems may not go away, but you can change your attitudes toward them. Give a witness to your spiritual growth to someone who may be struggling. Dabr
