Hypocrisy in politics

Great leaders know how to lead by relating to the country and the citizens’ needs. However, in America true leadership is at a significant low. A real leader knows how to relate to others for their common good. Relationships are more than casual contacts. They are cultivated. They require an investment of personal energy and time. A real leader cares.

At a time when the public’s confidence in political leaders is at a significant low comes Pres. Biden’s pardoning of his son after he was found guilty of multiple charges in the courts. He made this pardon even though many times he said he never would. This is an example of hypocrisy within leadership. When Bill Clinton asked why he behaved in such an immoral fashion in the White House, he replied that he did it because he could do it.

Much hope is levied on the incoming presidential administration. The swamp is so deep with the beasties that swim in it so repulsive that it will take a near miracle for America to turn itself around. We have been talking about the horrors of abortion, the abject high level for the cost of living, international relationships and that wars persist. However, those who have brought America down are also those who will stab our nation in the back continually, repeatedly without mercy and without hesitation. Do not expect the new administration to be the awakening of sleeping beauty. The witch is still nearby!

It is not uncommon for people say that they believe in a “higher power,” an ultimate good, and God. But the question remains how real one sees God. What effort is made to interact with him in a true relationship? History has revealed that political leaders are far from honest. Proof of this is that a politician can enter an office of responsibility with very little money in their bank account and then leave owning a huge amount of cash. Where did the money come from? The unfortunate fact is it only those with a near unlimited about income can run for president. The common Joe has no place nor is he welcome in Washington DC.

Whether we are talking about a one-on-one relationship or whether we are talking about a nation being reborn, the first must be a positive desire. Then we must be willing to put self aside for the sake of the relationship. Then we must listen very carefully and watch intently to what is happening around us. America has developed a caste system in which the elite politicians benefit by their own actions while the voting public mosey about in  their own personal lives.

We may honor leaders, great achievers, and those that we respect, but let us acknowledge the inherent responsibility of a true leader. The American dream has degenerated to simply doing the best we can under the circumstances. All of this emphasizes the importance of a real relationship. That relationship is with the Almighty God. He will never let us down. He will never stop loving us. He will never turn his back on us. God will never be confused in our behalf. If only we would put God first above ourselves, above our politics and above our disillusionment, our lives will be much better.
