Christianity is Outlandish

To be a Christian according to the Bible, a person must believe that God came down and walked among men, worked miracles including raising people from the dead, was himself murdered but rose from the dead three days later. When you stop to think about it, these claims are outlandish. They are spectacular, unusual and, for many people, it is hard to believe. No religion makes any claim like this. To believe these things, Christianity calls it faith. Other people call it foolishness. There are numerous people who cannot bring themselves to believe these claims. That is why they do not embrace the Christian way of life.

They use their own logic against the biblical record of these events. They neglect to read the Scriptures that reports what happened over 2000 years ago. Their response is that a man who lived that long ago has no bearing on today’s modern life. Instead, they create their own moral base for how to live in this society. In doing so, there are a multitude of individual ethical foundations that sometimes conflict with each other. In some cases, these personal foundations permit conduct which is even contrary to the 10 Commandments.

The biblical Christian embraces these outlandish claims for what happened so long ago. The validation of these claims has significant evidence as proof that they occurred. The enemies of Christ were so fearful that Jesus would be resurrected they invented the story that the disciples overpowered trained military soldiers to steal the body of Christ. They even bribed soldiers to make a confession to that claim which otherwise would have cost them their lives as punishment for not being true to their mission of guarding the tomb of Jesus. Hundreds and hundreds of people witnessed the resurrected Christ as he presented himself to the devout population. The followers of Jesus were so convinced of his resurrection that such proof became the motivation to abandon their jobs, in some cases their families, their way of life, to proclaim the resurrection.

They did not wander all over the known world proclaiming the reformation of religion or new morality. Their only message was that Jesus was resurrected from the dead and that he did so making a way for everyone who believed in him to have the assurance of life after death. This message was so powerful that the messengers were willing to face death themselves by horrendous means. Their efforts were fruitful causing Christianity to be an international faith that still exists today as the number one way to follow God.

Think about these outlandish claims. Embracing them into your own life so that the promises of Jesus are affective for yourself. Let the truth of resurrection be the encouragement, the strength to face each day’s problems, the inner peace that comes with knowing Jesus defeated our worst enemy. Rejoice that you have a family connection to God through Jesus. Recognize how blessed you are that the one you serve is more powerful than anything or anybody!
