Anti-Semitism in the Bible

There was a man who held a high political position, but a particular Jew refused to show reverence to him which resulted in his hatred of the Jews, all of them. The man that was elevated persuaded the powers that be to pass a law for the purpose of annihilating the Jews. A command was given to all those who were leaders of every province that they likewise should kill Jews. This included young and old, men and women. In doing so also was given the permission to take spoils of the Jews. Naturally, there was a great morning for these people who were lost. There was even a bounty placed on the heads of those who were killed.

A woman who held a prestigious position sought to intervene in behalf of the Jews. It so happened that the uncle of that woman was instrumental in saving the life of the leader. Those who plotted the assassination were executed. The woman found herself in danger for appealing in behalf of the Jews. She decided to make her appeal at a banquet. At the banquet the man who saved the life of the leader was also present resulting in more resentment. As a result, he made arrangements for the means of execution that he would use against the hero of the leader. The leader wanted to reward the hero but in the conversation with the bigot he thought the reward was going to come to him. The result was that the bigot lost his life by means that he intended against others.

The story could be appropriate for any time period. However, this is recorded in the Bible and the book of Esther that happened around 500 years before Christ. Over the many years of history, the Jews have been persecuted time and again. Hitler of Germany stands out as the one who was the most monstrous along with Stalin of Russia who caused the death of millions of people also. When we are talking about 3000 years ago or 100 years ago or of the bigotry on college campuses currently, anti-Semitism is alive and well. We cannot tolerate this kind of hatred. Like Queen Esther to intervene for the Jews to the king, we must stand our ground not tolerating this type of evil in our world.
