The Beginning of the End

First Peter 4:7 says, “The end of all things is at hand; be therefore sober and watch unto prayer.”  These are sobering words that require further biblical consideration.

Some people believe there will be an end time. Some people say they believe but live like they don’t believe. Some people believe in the end of time as a means to avoid their miseries. Some people believe in the television version of end times that does not include God. Some people believe in end times and obsess over it so much that it turns them away from viable scriptural teaching for daily living. Some people fear end times that it will be a horrific event. Some people believe in end times but do not want it to  interrupt their plans for marriage or other events. Some people study end times for the sake of arguing and convincing others of their way of thinking. A few people look forward to end times because they trust Jesus when he said it will be wonderful for the believer. Most people think of the end times as unique, unusual but it will be natural progression of future history. In fact, God would say there always was an end time. Let us look at a number of Bible verses that offer more guidance than what some people say.

God has so much power that he can speak anything to be into existence. (John 1:1-3; Genesis 1:1)

Cause for the need of an end was born within Lucifer. (Isaiah 14:12-15; Jude 6)

A plan for the end was set in motion way back at the time of the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:15, 21)

The end was not just putting God’s purpose for mankind but for Satan, his demons and any form of evil. (Genesis 6:5-8; Revelation 20: 10)

When God exercised various judgments, they were not the end. (Jeremiah 16:10-21)

The end will come when God intends for it to come. (Matthew 24:36)

All preparations for the end time must include faith. (Genesis 15:6)

The end time will come through a new select people devoted to Christ and his purpose. (John 17:26)

The fulfillment of the end time will be a result of the divine promise. (Acts 1:11)

As it was in due time that God sent Jesus to die on the cross, so will it be in due time that God will send Jesus once again back to earth. (Romans 5:6)

And so it is, God has been in charge all along throughout human history. In the very beginning, God had the means for salvation on hand. He knew that humanity would fall to sin, but he also in the beginning had a means to redeem anyone willing to accept Jesus as Savior through faith in his sacrifice on the cross. We must keep in mind that God is always in charge and because of that, there will be an end time.
