Remember the Reality of the Resurrection

Easter is the day we observe yearly. Of course, it is when we recall the day Jesus rose from the dead. The problem is that as we go to church, it becomes only a day and then we move on as if it was a holiday. The second problem is its reality may not have a significant effect on how we live.  It is not a motivating factor. It is not a transient to a higher spiritual maturity. What we need to discuss is a reminder for why the resurrection was so necessary.

The resurrection is the central theme of Christ. He said that death is not the end! As Christians, we can take comfort the future holds a better tomorrow.  We will meet together with Christ, loved ones, and those we admire.

The resurrection verifies the specific promises of Christ. It would make no difference whatsoever no matter what claims he made if he could not follow through with them. There will come a time, because he was true, that each believer  can realize that for themselves.

The resurrection provides credible proof that Christ is the Son of God. No mere mortal would be able to resume his living if it wasn’t for Jesus. Because of his resurrection we all can tell ourselves that Jesus would verify in all things and all ways you can always trust him.

The resurrection is a constant reminder of Christ, not just as a human being who founded a religion. No other founder could accomplish what Jesus did. No other founder can be trusted because only he can deliver us in this life and in the next for our own good.

The resurrection is a reflection of the conquering power of Christ. He came to defeat death and Satan on the cross followed by the resurrection. Time will tell as it once did when Mary said, “He is risen!” There will come a time, sooner or later, in which the same can be said of us that we have risen from this earthly life or from our sleep in death!!!

The disciples grieved significantly at the crucifixion of Jesus. To them their world came crashing down. So, it is for any who grieves. Our grieving is actually for ourselves not for the one who has departed. When death claims a loved one, we miss them, we have a multitude of emotions relative to their departure. Reality is that they are having the time of their lives with Jesus. As we trusted him for salvation so can we trust him for the sorrows of this life. The resurrection is our assurance that as we put grief in its proper place as part of our life experiences, there is a new world awaiting us because he is risen. Much of our motivation to live out the Christian experience must come from a concentration in our mind and spirit on a daily basis that Jesus is risen not just for himself but for all those who believe in him.
