Everyone knows the name Holy Spirit. Everyone understands that he is mentioned in Scripture. However, there is often confusion about what the Holy Spirit does, his work in our lives. Since Jesus was a single human body, he was unable to be everywhere all at the same time. Therefore, when he ascended to heaven, he sent the Holy Spirit to be our comforter and guide. Let us list some scriptures that remind us of how wonderful it is when the Holy Spirit is active in our lives.
1 John 2:20,27 … The Holy Spirit helps us to know the truth from error
2 Timothy 2:1,2 … The Holy Spirit is the motivating force enabling us to pass truth on to others
1 Timothy 4: 1 … The Holy Spirit keeps us from falling away so that we are secure in God’s hands for all eternity beginning the moment we accept Christ as Savior
Luke 12:11,12 … The Holy Spirit gives us the cause for action and knowledge for how to answer the world, especially when we are under attack by evil forces
1 Corinthians 2: 10-13 … The Holy Spirit gives us a special ability as we grow in God maturing, perfecting our faith to understand the deep things of God
1 Peter 1:11,12 … The Holy Spirit enables us to have our spirit touched so we might appreciate the suffering Christ did in our behalf
These are a few scriptures among many that shows how important it is for us to cooperate with the Holy Spirit. By doing so, we can grow in the Lord and be a more effective witness to the world. We must avoid being like some people who have little or no understanding about the Holy Spirit. As we read Scripture, it would be wise of us to allow our spirit the opportunity of being touched by the Holy Spirit. Remember, that Jesus talked about our relationship with God that it must be in spirit and in truth.
