The Crown of Creation – Genesis 1: 26

Have you ever wondered why God made man in the first place? He has been nothing but the source of problems. So much of history has been loaded with rejection and refusal of worshipping God. Originally, all of  God’s creation was beautiful.  Even so, nothing yet reflected the image of God. Man was created to reflect that image by way of  fellowship with the Divine.

Since a human as a spiritual being, only humans are capable of knowing God. Since humans are immortal beings, meaning that their souls will never disappear, they have aspects of the outward, the inward, and the physical. This relationship with God was very satisfying. It boasted of harmony and mutual delight. God told the man to have dominion over nature somewhat like the Almighty has rule with his own authority over creation.

The original intent for man to have an image of God in himself has been marred by the fall. He became an immortal spirit that was at war with God. The only difference is that this immortality or being in a state in which his spirit will always exist, the human being placed himself between satisfying flesh or satisfying God.

Thanks be to God that Jesus as the express image of God was manifested to others. He became the second Adam. Through the first Adam sin entered into the world. Through the second Adam(Jesus) the consequence of sin was absolved by the death of Christ on the cross.  What man could not do through his own abilities our Lord did the impossible by the beauty of salvation. As a result, that image of God was restored in the new man through redemption. What was not possible for me was possible through Christ. It was not man’s reformation of good works. It was the love of God that brought us to a place whereby we have a promise of eternal life as immortal beings reunited to the fellowship with the great Creator.
