There was a time when everything in the world was just perfect. Nothing was wrong. Nobody was confused about their identity or purpose in life. There were no worries for food or clothes or companionship. The scenery and surrounding area with all the creatures were exactly as anybody’s dream would make it to be.
Then something went wrong. Since that something, all of the human race has been trying to find out where they fit into this world. In most cases, people don’t even know what their identity is. Even those who profess to serve God are often confused about their relationship with him. This topsy-turvy turmoil has brought much pain and agony to people.
But thanks be to God, the verse of today tells us exactly the answers that most people are searching for all their lives. There is no uncertainty. There is no doubt. There is no lingering over books and self-help lectures. Our verse of today says anyone who knows Jesus Christ as his personal Savior is a member of a special generation. That individual is even counted as having royalty among the priests of God. There is no doubt in God’s mind that because of him we can be a holy nation. His salvation has made us unique and peculiar people. No wonder the author of the verse says that we can praise him who called us out of darkness into marvelous light!
God himself has chosen you to live with him in all glory for all eternity. On this earth as we go from day to day, he has provided his Holy Spirit. God is so intent in his love for you that he thinks of you as the apple of his eye. (Zachariah 2:8) He made promises that cannot be broken such as he would never leave nor forsake you. Christ has made it possible for you to have a special inheritance as a reward for serving him. (1 Peter 1:4)
Stay encouraged, not because of who you are, but because of who he has made you. By salvation that he provided, you are a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Allow God’s special delight in you and for you to always blossom regardless of what circumstances in which you find yourself. Remember that God has made you so unique that he wants to spend eternity with you.
