Spiritual Suicide

Think how wonderful our nation,

        And how peaceful it could be

If we prayed and search the Scriptures

        Much as we viewed – TV!

It’s amazing and appalling

        How the Lord is so denied;

Many had exchanged their Bible

        For that so-called TV Guide.

Murder pictures- children watching,

        Programs often base, Obscene,

Many juvenile delinquents-

        Can be traced back to the screen.

Pastors- many are bemoaning-

        Small attendance many nights;

Careless members, home and watching

        Special programs or the fights.

Shirley, this must grieve our Master-

        All this tendency to Crime

All he notes the wasted hours,

        How we spend our time?

With this grip upon our Nation –

        The midnight hours so very high;

Yet ye load to sleep your conscience

        Mid a Rock- and- Roll Lullaby.

Spiritual suicide is certain

        If continued in this way,

Oh, we need to search the Scriptures;

        Yes, more and more we must Pray.

There be a tremendous difference;

        To this you may not all agree;

But our greatest spiritual Robber

        Is none other than the TV.
