He is King of Kings – Revelation 19: 16

In the book of Revelation prophecy is given for the second coming of Christ to earth. He is called King of Kings and Lord of Lords. When Christ has absolute reign over all the earth, he will be the ultimate royalty.

A king with absolute royalty has within his power to make all decisions to be final. He is responsible for the welfare of his subjects. There is no challenge to him capable of changing any of his decrees. The king expects total submission from those over which he dictates their future. A king, as I have described, is worthy of glory and honor.

I propose to you that we immediately consider ourselves as believers subject to the divine king. What if we thought about our relationship to God as him being the king and we being his subjects? We would resolve ourselves to the fact that his edicts would be issued for our ultimate good. In exchange for his goodness, we would respond in complete submission to whatever he permits in our lives.

If we lived as if we were under a king (in our case with him as a divine authority), life would be greatly improved. Doubts, questions, bewilderment, and confusion would disappear. If we serve God as the divine king in our lives, the heartaches and troubles that plague us would not appear. With him is our divine king, all matters would already be settled because he is the  king, and we are his subjects.

The complication we face in attempting to do this is that we really do not know what it’s like to live under the rule of a king. We may read about it, but we have not experienced the King’s absolute authority while we see ourselves as his subjects. If we could alter our thinking so that we think of Christ as our King, our faith and devotion would be greatly be improved.

Often the apostle Paul referred to himself as a servant or slave of Jesus. He understood what it was like to live under the authority of a royal. Should we decide to see our relationship with Jesus as King and we as his servant, our spiritual lives would be blessed. Our reception to his leadership would be prompt. When we would read of his edicts (the Bible) we would know that it is our personal responsibility to implement and enforce what the Word says.

From the very beginning Satan put doubts into the minds of Adam and Eve leading them to a place of rebellion for their will to replace God’s. Should we agree with Scripture to call him our King of Kings and Lord of Lords, our lives would be simpler, uncomplicated, and straightforward. Join with me to crown Jesus the King of our individual lives offering unquestionable devotion to him. We would live by the motto, “Would my King approve?” We would actually trust him, no matter what happens!
