Christians and Alcohol – Genesis 1 Corinthians 8

There is no specific verse in the Bible that condemns the drinking of alcohol. However, there are verses that talk about using it to access. My grandfather was an alcoholic. That was one reason I have never taken alcohol into my system. If a person drinks to access, no doubt their Christian witness would be harmed. Should a Christian be seen coming out of a bar, likewise, there witness could be harmed. This is the same thought that Apostle Paul dealt with in regard to meat consumed by Christians that had been offered to idols. He said, “if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh.” (1 Corinthians 8: 13) We must be very sensitive for how we present ourselves to the world, taking note of anything that could be misunderstood or harmful to others. It is for this reason that I have attached a paper asking the question, “Are you an alcoholic?” Remember that Christians can be alcoholics, too.
