An American Psalm of 9-11

                         By James R. Bradfield

All praise the Lord in the bustling streets of New York,

Praise him in the force of Pennsylvania,

Praise God among the buildings of Washington DC;

Again, I say pray she is the Lord.

God is he who would guide our thoughts;

It is he who would ease our sadness;

The Lord has given us his Spirit of comfort,

And by him do we heal and gather ourselves together.

The God of forgiven saints will show us the path to victory.

It is he that will reclaim our national fortitude.

The Lord of love will give to us a new direction and purpose;

God be praised for true victory of peace that is his.

O praise the Lord from the seashores and from lakefront;

Praise him all the people in malls, stores, and parks.

Praise God for hope is already ours;

Let all the people of the nation praise him,

Again I say, praise God!

those we lost last September 11, 2001 will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts and nation’s history:

2819 lives lost in New York City when UAL flight 175 and AA flight 11 slammed into the World Trade Center towers

189 lives lost when AA flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon

44 died in Pennsylvania on UAL flight 93

 of the dead and missing, there were:

343 heroes of the New York City Fire Department

23 heroes of the New York City Police Department

eight children as young as two years old

all 700 employees of an entire company in the World Trade Center

moms, dads, children, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friend, fiancés

terrorists attacked our people, our institutions, our culture, our history, and our American principles. Ironically the greatest damage to your country from this first strike was done in a city where long ago the very idea of liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness were sanctified as immigrants moved into America hoping for a better life.
