Our Murderous Past

Humanity has not been kind to itself. Go back to ancient biblical times to begin with. The Assyrians were some of the worst warriors that existed. To avoid being too graphic, let me say that it was one of their practices to skin an enemy alive. It was common practice for conquering people in warfare to do some of the most gross and horrible things to their victims. That was considered what usually should be done as part of their victory.

Some may call into question why God ordered the conquering Israelites to annihilate their enemies- man, woman, and child to the very last one. We might ask why God would order this to be done since he is supposed to be a loving God. He was overseeing his people according to the current customs of warfare. It would make no sense to the soldiers to treat the enemy any other way. Let me emphasize, all conquering people whether Jew or Gentile performed hideous actions as part of their victories.

As the ancients worshipped their false gods and idols, they would cause their own children to be burned alive. One example of that is found in second Chronicles 33 that records the Jewish king  Manasseh who devoted himself to as much evil as possible including the killing of his own children.

Even later, the Roman Caesar Nero did terrible things. He ordered Christians to be lashed to poles in his garden. They were burned alive to provide light during the nighttime when Nero rode through his garden. It was common practice of the Romans to crucify criminals. Likely there crosses were  located along roads for people to see their suffering and fear for any criminal activity by themselves. Wild animals and birds would attack the criminal over a long period of agony.

Proceeding further in history, several popes ordered gross things to happen against others. He instructed children to march to the holy land as part of the crusade resulting in their deaths. It is been said that more people died under the name of Christianity than any other cause. Let me emphasize that those that instigated such heinous attacks were not Christians even though they said they were doing what they ordered in the name of Christianity. There is a major difference between being a Christian and presenting oneself as a Christian to the world.

I ask you a serious question. What is the difference between all of these terrible murders and what we today are supporting abortion? Those who vote for abortion do so to favor the mother. However, what about the preborn person and the father? It is my belief that most people who support abortion have not educated themselves how that occurs. Now the state of Ohio where I live has put into its constitution the right for mothers to kill their children even up to the time of birth.

And how does that murder happen? Sometimes a child is injected with poison and then it is dismembered still in the mother’s womb bringing piece by piece out onto the operating table. For the sake of civility, I will not proceed in explaining other means of abortion. Still, let me remind you that an induced abortion is not natural, is against how God set up the means of our propagation. Some say that abortion is necessary for the life of the mother. That may be true in some occasions, but the definition of necessary for the life of the mother could also involve that it is an inconvenient time or that interferes with future plans such as college.

For a woman to become pregnant is by careless misbehavior. It is totally preventable. She places her own emotions above common sense. The vast majority of women who had abortions in 2020 were unmarried (86%). Granted, a pregnancy can occur because of rape or incest. The vast majority of women who had abortions in 2020 were unmarried (86%). Here’s a chart of the reasons women seek abortion:

Percentage of womenReason for choosing to have an abortion
74%Having a baby would dramatically change my life
73%Cannot afford a baby now
48%Do not want to be a single mother or having relationship problems
38%Have completed my childbearing
32%Not ready for another child
25%Do not want people to know I had sex or got pregnant
22%Do not feel mature enough to raise a(nother) child
14%Husband or partner wants me to have an abortion
13%Possible problems affecting the health of the fetus
12%Concerns about my health
6%Parents want me to have an abortion
1%Was a victim of rape
less than .5%Became pregnant as a result of incest

My question to you today is: what is the difference between the history of our murderous past and how we treat our pre-born citizens? Keep in mind that those who support abortion are also involved (directly or indirectly) in the financial benefits from the killing of babies
