It is important for me to emphasize that this blog is not my opinion. What I am about to say is strictly based on the Bible. I am sure there are many other people that have different opinions about the afterlife. However, this blog is a reflection of God’s Word only. It is not intended to be a twist for how much in the Bible I could impose my theories. I’m going to try to be faithful in every way to share with you only what the Bible says. (It does not consider what may be the result of what some religious leaders say.)
- People do not become angels when they die. They remain humans in glorified bodies who are delivered into the hands of God where we call heaven. They will be no suffering or sadness in heaven.
- Our loved ones are not watching over us from above. How would that be heaven for them if they saw the negative experiences we are having? However, when we pray in the name of Jesus, we are soliciting his mediation and intervention in our behalf with the Heavenly Father Almighty God.
- Angels do not have wings unless they are seraphim or cherubim. There is a host of other angels serving God and supporting mankind when necessary. Those angels that have wings reflect God’s intercessory efforts looking toward our salvation. Such are those whose representation was placed on top the ark of the covenant.
- When people die, they do not come face-to-face with Peter at the “pearly gates” to ask permission that they might be granted entrance into heaven. Whether we go to heaven or not is predetermined by how we respond to God’s invitation for salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ before death.
- Hell was not originally intended for humans. It was for Satan and his fallen angels. However, those people that allow themselves to be deceived by Satan and follow his path instead of God’s will shall do so in anticipation of eternal punishment because they have rejected God’s Son.
- When believers stand before God for judgment, it is not to determine if they go to heaven or hell. It is a response and reaction to how well they have served God after accepting Christ. Not everybody will receive the same rewards in heaven, and some will even go to heaven as the Scripture says, “by the skin of their teeth.” The penitent thief who died on the cross with Jesus when he was crucified is a good example of that type of person.
- Beware of those charlatans who claim they can contact the dead through a séance or with a Ouija board or other manipulations. The righteous dead are preoccupied with enjoying the blessings they received in heaven. The Bible warns against contacting wizards, witches, and those people that claim to have special powers to talk with the departed.
We can draw great comfort from the Bible about the truth of the afterlife. If we allow the Holy Spirit to speak through God’s written word, we can verify how wonderful heaven will be as a result of Christ dying for us. It is only reasonable that we continue to serve him to the best of our ability, guided by his Spirit, and dedicate ourselves to a righteous life.
