There are so many ways we can attempt to describe Jesus and his ministry including the people he came in contact with, the actions he took. Yet, no matter what words we seek, we can never fully describe or appreciate our Lord. He was so merciful and compassionate! He said from the cross, “It is finished.” He finished his work. He satisfied every need, every purpose for which he came to earth from heaven’s throne. Let’s delve deeper into that satisfaction.
What great a project there was that challenged him to reconcile otherwise irreconcilables. Because of Adam’s sin, he alienated himself and all of us since then from God and there was never a satisfactory way to fix that problem but by Jesus.
What peace Jesus won on the cross in the battle between good and evil. Satan assumed all he had to do was kill Jesus. He tried this by using the king when Jesus was only two years old. He failed then and he failed at the cross.
What Christ did for mankind was to make it possible for us to be redeemed, chosen, elected when mankind through Adam had already in the Garden of Eden elected to be alienated from God.
What need man had that was so great it can be compared to a courtroom scene. Humanity had guilty hanging over his head, but Jesus did what necessary work there was to justify all of us as if we were innocent. He took upon himself the guilty version from us.
What horrible condition humanity was in because of the original rebellion in the garden that only Jesus could regenerate us into a new living person. The Bible describes the work as making us a whole new creation. We are not just a new creature. We are a new creation innocent as a newborn baby.
What remarkable irony there was as a result of the work of Christ. He took rebels that originally walked away from him, and he sat all that aside so that we could be used for a holy service by the Almighty.
What significant work Christ accomplished because he made it possible that such a thing that Adam did could never happen again as long as each of us ask God to provide forgiveness for us. Once we are that new creation, we have a security based on God’s promises and not our works.
What a shout of hallelujah can be heard through the halls of time as the Master Craftsman of the universe declared, “I did it!” He did it all for you and me, not himself. He formed all those stars and planets then performed the final work for us. Thank you, Jesus!
