Rememering our Killed Warriors

Memorial day is a time we remember those who were slain in battle for the freedoms that we enjoy now.

Who are they to us? Some people have not lost loved ones who served in the military and gave the ultimate price. It may be difficult for them to relate to the meaning of this day. Still, we should set aside the time to recognize those who are responsible for our freedoms. The many families who have lost loved ones by wearing the uniform of America, we must stand up for the causes they believed in.

We must value their significance. Without our slain soldiers, men and women, America would not be in existence. Our country was purchased by their blood. The roads we travel were laid forward by what they were willing to do. A hero in the battlefield does not plan ahead of time to rescue others who were already wounded while sacrificing his own life. He or she became a hero by doing it without thought. They stepped out of the battlefield because the need was there.

We would be remiss not to follow their example of sacrifice. This does not mean that we have to shed blood. It does mean, however, that we must step forward for the sake of our fellow citizens whenever the need happens to be. Their example would be difficult to duplicate in our lives other than those who have been deployed to foreign countries that are hostile. It is the duty of every citizen to honor those who have given their lives for us and those who still wear the uniform. But this Memorial day is for us to take a moment and pause in gratitude for those who died too soon.

As part of our appreciation for those who gave their lives so that we might be free their memory must forever be in our thoughts. Our duty is to honor them as we reflect on our national problems. It is our responsibility to turn those problems into possibilities. We must be done with political nonsense. We must look for what is best for our country. To live out gratitude for those whose names are etched on tombstones, we have no other choice but to make America strong.
