When we were united by faith to Christ, we were brought into fellowship with him. We were made one with him. His interest is in communing mutually with each of us . This is God’s plan. This is God’s purpose. This is God’s goal. Specifically, there are ways we have fellowship with Christ that only a believer can experience.
We have fellowship with Christ in his love. What he loves we come to love. He loves believers, the saints of God. He loves sinners. He loves every single member of the human race. He loves to see every soul transformed into the blossoming garden of all eternity.
We have fellowship with Christ’s desires. He desires the glory of God to be demonstrated by every labor of service. He desires each believer to be with him where he is. He desires to drive out evil and defeat it. He desires his Father’s name to be loved and adored by all.
We have fellowship with Christ in his sufferings. We have not been literally nailed to the cross nor experience cruel suffering. It is an honorable and sweet thing to be rejected for his sake, to walk the road of difficulty. As a disciple we must expect to be just like our Lord.
We have fellowship with Christ in his labors by ministering to men the word of truth and deeds of love. Our ambition is to do the work he began by reaching all the world so that we as his followers might finish his directives to seek and find everyone for salvation.
We have fellowship with Christ in his joy. He rejoiced to fulfill the will of the Father. The source of our happiness is in doing the same. The joy of his exultation is enjoying his delight this side of heaven. Our happiness is satisfaction as he lives in us to fulfill God’s outreach.
We have fellowship with Christ in his glory. He waits to complete our fellowship with him by the Father’s timeline for his church to sit down at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. As saints linked by his blood, we are his well-beloved bride longing for his presence and glory.
