Preparing for the Tribulation – Matthew 19: 16-22

Our text recalls an incident in which a rich young ruler came to Jesus asking what he needed to do that he might inherit eternal life. Jesus’ initial reply was to remind him of the 10 Commandments. He replied that he had done all of these things from his youth up. Then Jesus put his finger on the problem by telling him to liquidate his wealth and give it to the poor. He turned and walked away from Jesus which to us is a reminder of 1 Timothy 6:10a that says the love of money is the root of all evil. (NOT money is the root of all evil.)

The purpose of this blog is to advise anyone that has failed to accept Christ as Savior before the rapture; followed by the tribulation. Should you review the book of Revelation, you will find that much of man’s response to God is associated with money. This could be those people that deal with the shipping of goods, the sale of goods, and the purchase of goods. Throughout the tribulation those who are left behind after  the rapture will be engrossed in money and things demonstrating anger toward God for the interruption of commerce.

A unique picture is presented in Revelation 6: 9-11 telling us that there will be persons who accept Christ during that time period but will be murdered for their faith. This is not to say that there will be a second chance to be redeemed during the tribulation. It is not a gamble to think you will live long enough to see the tribulation because we have no idea when Jesus will come initiating the rapture. It is to say that those who are mentioned in these verses will suffer pain and death prematurely. For those who could miss the rapture by not knowing Christ as Savior, they should take heed beforehand of the warning presently given.

Hopefully this blog will be available at the onset of the tribulation. If it is, seek this advice available. To become a Christian, one must embrace the guidance provided by the Apostle Paul. A candidate for redemption begins with a deep conviction that we all are sinners. (3:23) Then such a person must embrace the fact that we have no means to avoid damnation other than believing that Christ died for us. (5:6) This is significant because if that does not happen, we are enemies with God. (5:10) And in addition if it does not happen, such a person will receive death as if it were payment to hold onto their sinful nature. (6:23) Following this, it is most appropriate to confess  our sins after believing in our heart that Christ is our Savior.(10:9-13)

Let’s return to the verses that detail promises and good things after having a deep belief in Christ. Should the convert seriously want Christ, God’s Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit. The encouragement for you who are currently living in the tribulation there is a similar condition of Paul’s time when he said, “I reckoned that suffering of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” (8: 16-18)
