Hope for China

This is an open letter to the Christians in China who sometimes must serve the Lord in hiding.

My dear brothers and sisters,

Please be encouraged in the Lord. We on this side of the world understand that you do not have the religious freedom that we do. However, you are displaying the New Testament life. It is as if you were living at the time the New Testament was written. So much of what it contains pertains to you.

Many, many verses speak to you in honor and encouragement. You set the example for all the world. You live under a communist regime that seems frightened should you ever have open and public service and worship Jesus. I personally do not understand that government. If it is so good, then why must people be afraid of it and why are some pastors put in prison? It is obvious that this type of government is for the leaders’ prosperity and others must endure.

This is the same thing that Christians had to experience under the leadership of the Roman empire Caesars. According to Fox’s Book of Martyrs, so much of what happened to the early Christians seems to be happening to you. I personally admire you and pray for you.

In addition to the stress of your persecution, there is also the coronavirus that has been rampant in your country and around the world. I pray to God that none of you believers become victims to its horrible and deadly consequences. I wish you to know that above all believers in the world you have hope in God. Through him there is much to hope and believe in his help and guidance.

You have hope that this virus will end, but also hope for the future for yourself and your families. You have hope that Jesus Christ is supporting you. You have hope that your underground churches can have great blessings from the Lord through this virus. You have hope that the word of God is real and is as a love letter to you and not just philosophical writings. You have hope that there is something greater that is beyond this world that is not afflicted by viruses. You have hope that in knowing that the Almighty Creator of this universe loves you. You have hope that because of your many efforts that you have done God sees you. You have hope that you have a spiritual well-being based on your own works for Jesus. You have hope that is more and better and purer than everything and anything you ever thought. You have hope and knowledge and by surrendering to God through his son Jesus Christ you can have a new contentment and peace. You have hope that the very spirit of the Almighty God will guide you and teach you and comfort you.

Thank you for the example you set for all of us! Thank you for enduring your trials and burdens.

In behalf of everyone around the world who are Christians, I acknowledge that you are a significant and powerful church that may seem small in numbers but is large in faith. Keep in mind that Jesus said if your faith is the size of a grain of mustard seed you can move mountains. In your lifetime I believe that you will see wonderful things from God and the work you do will be greatly rewarded.
