“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then when I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
God said we must: humble ourselves, pray, seek him, and the proof of our sincerity is that we will turn from our ways.
God promised to us: he will hear us, and forgive us, and will heal our land.
It is not easy to be a humble people. Praying can easily be insincere. Seeking God can seem to be arbitrarily done, but if we are real and genuine, the proof of what we say is in our actions that we as a nation will turn from the sinful ways we have been living for decades.
Only God is the one who could hear us. There was no shadow of a doubt that we need him to forgive us. He is willing to heal our land as a nation, but it is conditional. The result is our responsibility.
Those conditions must be taken individual by individual, not as a group or a population. Each and every one of us must be so resolute that the healing of our land, our people, and even our politics is directed and overshadowed by God.
We must ask ourselves between now and Wednesday what do we want America to look like. What kind of alignment do we want our children and grandchildren to live in?
