Today We Must Wait

“And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.”

                                                                                                                                            1 Chronicles 14:15

So often we are tempted to run ahead of God. He has his own plan in his own method to help us. In the case of the above-mentioned Scripture King David was instructed to hold back marching to the enemy, until he heard a sound in the tops of the mulberry trees. At that time, God was assuring victory.

This is so true for us personally. There are occasions in which we feel like we need to hurry and make a decision. We must be careful that we are not the ones making the decision for what to do and went to do it. God will not only take care of this, but he will also lead us, and give us our own victory.

In the case of our national political scene, today we may have anxiety for the outcome by Wednesday evening. Today, being Monday, we are like David on hold waiting to see what happens in Georgia for their elections. We are on hold to see what will happen Wednesday for the planned challenge to the electoral College results.

Various other Bible verses come to mind. We are told to be still. We are told to fret not. Most of the time we can do nothing about the situation. It is like today, Monday, we must wait and see how everything turns out this week. We must trust God. We must rely on his leading. We must remind ourselves that the ultimate result comes from God’s going before us.
