Faithful in small things – Matthew  25: 23

It may be difficult to know the value that you provide in your church even the small or routine things that you do. God recognizes all your efforts. Only eternity will tell how important you have been to the kingdom of God. In contrast, let us look at history to see the results of some who were not faithful.

In 1915 Leon Trotsky it was a noted leader of the 1917 Bolshevik revolution in Russia. He attended Sunday school in Chicago with a friend. The teacher did not arrive to teach his class that morning and had not notified anyone of his intention to be absence. Trotsky walked away from that Sunday school class and as far is known never attended another one. Two years later he was intensely engaged in the revolution of Russia which brought the communist regime to power.

One cannot help but wonder what effect that Sunday school teacher might have had on the world events had he faithfully fulfilled his responsibilities by being present and teaching his class this Sunday Trotsky visited.

Joseph Stalin, caused 60 million people to die in Russia.  He was sent to study to be a priest in the Russian church. It had become so worldly and corrupt that he rebelled and turned to communism as a way of life.

Mahatma Gandhi, who was a leader of millions India, studied Christianity when in England, but rejected it because Christians did not live up to the teachings of Jesus.

Here in America, a young Chinese studied for four years and was graduated from one of our colleges. The churches did not invite him to attend and many people ridiculed him. He went back to China better against Christianity and became Prime Minister of communist China.

Two teenagers grew up in Dallas Texas. Both were rough and troublesome.  A faithful Sunday school teacher contacted one of them every week for a year. Another teacher felt he did not want that type of boy in his class. The first lad was saved and is now actively in the ministry. The other assassinated Pres. John Kennedy.

Sunday school teacher: it does make a difference when you come to Sunday school. Be present every Sunday. Other workers of the church, take note that whatever you do will likely have consequences throughout eternity. Thank you for your efforts!

A thought to ponder: One cannot waste time. He wastes his life.
