As we know, the Bible says that those who know Christ as their Savior whether dead or alive will be raptured to meet him in the air. They will spend the next seven years in fellowship with Christ enjoying what is called the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. During this same time very bad things will happen on earth. Let us discuss what those bad things are, understanding in particular what it will be like for Christians during the Tribulation.
Entries in the Old Testament books and the teaching of the book of Revelation tell us of the miseries everyone will experience during the Tribulation. It is not necessary for us to confuse ourselves about the Angels who administer God’s response to those people who refused to accept Christ as Savior. For this discussion, set aside the monsters described in the book of Revelation. Instead, look at the consequences of their appearances, with the angelic responses. A better perspective is to review the series that God uses to deal with wickedness. On earth there will be no peace and horrific natural events such as earthquakes, tsunamis, great fires, and disease will befall everyone his feet will still be on planet Earth.
In addition, there will be mass suicides, murders, and chaos within society. Food shortages will occur. There will arise the individual commonly referred to as the Antichrist. He will create a one world government with one world currency, with one world educational system, with one world international treaties. He will inspire through cunning hatred against anyone who has a mind toward God. To buy and sell will depend on a person making an allegiance with this Antichrist by accepting some label on their bodies saying they serve him. Even so, the world economy will collapse. Showers of meteors will fall. Frightening astrological events will occur. Many more horrific judgments will be experienced by the unrepentant citizens of the earth.
With the stage having been set for what it will be like that all people will experience on earth, let us turn our attention to the Christians living during that time. Yes, there will be Christians in the Tribulation. If Jesus returns anytime soon, some of the people who could be reading this very article might find themselves surrounded by the worst events that will happen in all of history. Though the Holy Spirit’s stimulus leaves because those of the church having been raptured, it is very likely that some people will recall and respond to the witness given to them before the rapture.
A friend could give a tract to the unrepentant person. He may have attended a worship service but did not respond to the opportunity of accepting Christ. Then after the rapture hopefully he would have great regret. While enduring the horrific things I have already described, the person in my example might become a Christian. There still could be many other ways someone believes the gospel truth so that he becomes a Christian. So, you see, there are ways and reasons that a person could become a Christian during the Tribulation.
Allow me to offer some scenarios of what it would be like in the Tribulation that the new Christian must experience. Great prejudice will be levied on him. He will be singled out as someone that is not with the program. Imagine what it would be like if you went to the grocery store so that you had food for your children. Your money would not be accepted for any purchases. Your bank account will be drained. Your credit card will not be recognized. Furthermore, your need for medical services will be denied. You will learn significant persecution in as many ways as possible.
You might ask why a person would want to become a Christian under terrible circumstances.
The truth is anyone who realizes the facts of heaven and hell, what the Bible says about repentance, the remembered witnesses given to him by a kindly believer, the spiritual craving within very likely will help in deciding to ask God’s forgiveness of their sins so they might become Christians. They will conclude that it would be better to serve God as a Christian even at the risk of dying than it would be to experience the turmoil of God’s judgment on sin and the hatred of others.
Revelation 9: 21 offers a quick summary of those who languish in sin by prophesying, “Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.” During that time society will fracture. People will refuse to accept God but call on rocks to fall upon them. There will be no stability in relationships. People will turn on each other much like happened under the influence of Hitler, but worse.
As part of the persecution of Christians, many will be murdered.
Revelation 6: 9, 10 says “I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: and they cried with a loud voice saying, how long, O Lord, holy and true, do you not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?”
Revelation 20: 4 describes the severity that Tribulation Christians will experience by what John, the writer of Revelation, tells us. “I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands;”
Please share this blog with any nonbeliever that you know. Any minute Christ will return, and the Tribulation will begin. We must leave a witness to these people. They must see our footprints in the sand. They must know that we cared about them even though we left in the rapture. This is the most serious thing in all of world history. We must take it under advisement with prayer and witnessing to others.
